Breaking Barriers, Building Bonds: The Story of Sisterhood Softball League

Writer: MMH TeamMMH Team

What started as a passion for the game has transformed into a movement. Maryam Dadabhoy, commissioner of Sisterhood Softball League (SSL), took a simple love for softball and turned it into North America’s first Muslim women’s softball league—a space where women can compete, connect, and create lasting friendships.

But SSL is more than just a league. It’s a community built on mental well-being, sisterhood, and empowerment. It’s a place where Muslim women can show up as themselves, play the sport they love, and support one another—on and off the field.

On Saturday, March 8, at From Margins to Mainstream: Advancing Muslim Voices in Media, we’re bringing Maryam’s incredible journey to the big screen. Join us as we celebrate her story, the impact of SSL, and the importance of creating spaces for Muslim women in sports and beyond.

📅 Date: Saturday, March 8

📍 Location: Sagan Banquet Hall, Mississauga
