Now on YouTube: Regip Assim: Ever God's Servant

Watch Regip Assim: Ever God's Servant, the latest film in our documentary series, Muslims in Canada: Stories from the Archive.

This short documentary explores the story of Jami Masjid, the oldest mosque and Islamic centre in the City of Toronto, and the small Muslim community that came together to build it.

Through archival research and historical storytelling, the film examines the life and legacy of Regip Assim, the man who led this early Muslim community and played a central role in establishing one of Canada's most important Islamic institutions.

His story offers a unique window into the experiences of Toronto's early Muslim residents and the dedication, faith, and perseverance that helped shape Muslim life in the city for generations to come.

Directed by Roha Hena and Faseeh Ahmed, Regip Assim: Ever God's Servant is part of a short documentary series created through Muslim Media Hub's Short Film Lab, an initiative dedicated to supporting and developing emerging Muslim storytellers.

Watch the film now on YouTube and discover the story of the community that built Toronto's oldest mosque.
