We were excited to have Keth Sivakumar, a skilled audio engineer, lead an invaluable session at our 2024 Short Film Lab, focusing on the critical role of sound in film production. Keth’s workshop went beyond the basics, giving our participants a hands-on, practical experience in the art of audio recording.
Keth shared his expertise on different types of microphones, explaining when and how to use them to capture the best sound for various film environments. He also demonstrated techniques for handling a boom pole and offered best practices for recording crisp, high-quality audio during shoots. His guidance emphasized the importance of sound management, showing how effective audio recording can elevate a film’s overall impact.
Participants not only learned the technical aspects of audio recording but also got to apply this knowledge through real-world examples, gaining the confidence and skills needed to handle sound in their own short film projects.
Keth’s session was a true highlight, equipping filmmakers with the tools they need to ensure their audio is just as powerful as their visuals. We’re grateful to him for sharing his expertise, and we look forward to seeing how our participants integrate these lessons into their upcoming projects.
