We're excited to have Deena A. Alsaweer join us as an instructor for the Short Film Lab. Deena's career in filmmaking and content creation has spanned over a decade, marked by her passion for storytelling and her skill in bringing stories to life. She earned her M.A. in Film/TV from SCAD and is a recognized Fulbright Scholar, highlighting her dedication and skill in the field.
Deena's experience includes working on a wide range of projects around the world, writing, directing, and coordinating with notable organizations such as CBC, Yamaha, The French Embassy, and Bahrain International Karting Circuit, among others. Her projects include work on TVOkids' “Polkaroo! Reads,” Bell Fibe TV1's “Teenage Fever,” and “Being Black in Canada” (presented by Netflix), showcasing her versatility and ability to engage with diverse storytelling platforms and audiences.
Additionally, Deena has contributed to creating Electronic Press Kits (EPKs) for films like Netflix's “Geek Girl” and Hallmark’s “Shifting Gears,” demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of the film industry and marketing.
In our Short Film Lab, participants will have the unique opportunity to learn from Deena’s extensive experience and insights into storytelling and pitching. This section of the lab will be an invaluable resource for aspiring filmmakers looking to hone their narrative skills and learn how to effectively pitch their ideas.
