2026 Application Form

The Archives to Screen Film Fellowship is an 8-week intensive for intermediate Muslim filmmakers interested in bringing stories from Muslim history in Canada to the screen. There are no tuition fees required to participate in this program. Selected fellows will receive a $1,000 honorarium upon successful completion of the program.

Project Proposal

Your project proposal should fall under the theme of Muslims in Canada: Stories from the Archive. Successful proposals will integrate a historical Canadian Muslim person, community, event, or theme into the main story, while also demonstrating innovation, creativity and experimentation. A full pitch deck or treatment is not required at this stage, but we want to see that you’ve got a creative idea and have the skills to execute your idea with targeted mentorship. 


Please note that all proposals are subject to review by the Muslim Media Hub team. Acceptance into the program does not necessarily mean your proposal will proceed as originally pitched, and MMH reserves the right to provide feedback or modifications to successful proposals.

Commitment

The Archives to Screen Film Fellowship is an intensive program requiring consistent participation and independent work completed outside of scheduled sessions. Participants are expected to:


  • Attend 6 weekly in-person sessions on Saturdays from September 26 - November 14 at Muslim Media Hub (27 Pearl St, Mississauga) from 10am - 5pm;

  • Complete 6 production days (Oct 16-18 and Oct 23-25);

  • Dedicate an additional 5-10 hours per week outside of scheduled sessions for research, project development, production, and editing.
